Whaley Waltz Race - 84.9kg

Got a new PB today, beat my 2012 time by a whole 1 second, very pleased with that.

Kerridge Ridge 4.9 2014 PB - 85.2kg

I ran a new PB for 2014 tonight at 43:25. All time PB now within reach? 42:36 I think it is.

Two races - 85.2kg

Boars Head was a good result, got it in 66:32. Much improved over last year. I also ran in the Edale fell race this weekend. This was my first Short-A I think. Here is a piccie of Dave entitled "Someone's gonna pay for making me carry a full waterproof!"

Bollington 3 peaks results

Image
Ran this before we went on holiday and was pleased with the result. Second best performance at 55:38. Only 1.5 minutes behind Digger Barnes. So maybe can get a bit closer to him at this weeks race? Previous race results for Boars Head: 2012: 65:05 2013: 71:27 Here is a montage showing some different running styles. Nice to see you, to see you nice!

Return from Anglesey holiday - 85.7kg

Had a great holiday at Angelsey, did plenty of running including a run up to Snowdon and back in 2 hours. Here is the view from the top: Weight over the holiday crept up a bit, as did alcohol consumption. Time to get that back under control again now and bring weight back down to below 85kg. Might be something to do with this: Took new phone on holiday with me, a Moto G budget phone. Was impressed when Google cloud sent this back it had stitched together:

Rainow Five results - 86.4kg

A slightly disappointing result last night 48:27, three minutes slower than 2012. Having said that in 2012 I was still very fit and strong having just completed the Edale Skyline so overall I should not be too hard on myself. Next race is this Saturday Bollington Three Peaks. Again my best performance by far was in 2012 with 53:32. Full old results: 2009 - 1:03:03 2010 - 0:57:20 2011 - 1:00:25 2012 - 0:53:32 2013 - Did not compete My target for the weekend is sub 57 minutes.

Rainow Five Tonight! - 86.4kg

I've been trying to relax on the running over the past couple of days. Sunday was the last run I did, up to Shining Tor. Got a good time at around 2:20. The last couple of days I've gone on rides and walks instead of running. Was pleasantly surprised to find this morning I have reached my first target of losing 6kg. Downside is I think that is related to the beer I had yesterday. Since returning from holidays I've been aiming not to drink. This weekend was the first slip, then again yesterday. So need to start again now. My stretch for tonight is to run in less than 46 minutes. I will very be pleased if I get anywhere close to my last effort of 45:29. I should be pleased with anything less than 47 though really.

Effect of caffeine - 87.1kg

Yesterday I drank a lot of caffeine and last night I noticed that I felt much stronger on the run. I ended up running 44:44 which is my best performance of 2014 and 7th best of all time. If I knock another 2 minutes off I will be working on my best ever time. Today I got my BMI below 25 for the first time in 2014. Currently 24.99 Targets for May 2014: 1. Run some longer runs. Up to Shining Tor would be good. 2. Complete some races. Got two planned. 3. Reduce weight to below 86kg - new target 85kg 4. Get stomach to 93cm 5. Continue to watch diet and drinking 6. Start planning how to maintain

Weight increases after exercise - 87.7kg

It is one month since I started to actively lose weight now. I have lost 4.6kg in that month. Here is the data: An interesting thing I have noticed, something which puzzled me over this weeked, was how my weight was increasing even though I was doing some quite intense running. On Friday I ran a very fast 4.2 miles and then on Saturday I ran Shining Tor for the first time in a year. I was surprised and perplexed to find my weight increasing during this period. Yesterday I got to the point of not being able to run due to muscle soreness, which is though overuse. I have run pretty much every day in April. So this morning I was surprised to find my weight had dropped again quite considerably, from 88.9kg on Sunday to 87.7kg today. So the Web research I've done so far indicates that this is due to water retention around my muscles as they repair themselves, which then disperses during the course of the following days. I have yet to find a 'scientific' report on t

Progress update - 88.2kg

It has been 26 days since I started to monitor weight loss and start running intensely. I have not adjusted my diet much, I have done no fast days but tried to be more conscious about portions and what I'm eating. I have run almost every day including holiday in Lanzarote. So far lost 4.2kg over the 26 day period. Comparing this to last year when I used a 5/2 diet and running I lost 6kg in 25 days. Here is the current weight chart and compared below is the one from 2013: So what next. I will continue to run as often as possible, starting to push up my distance now and keep working on bringing my times down on the standard Kerridge Ridge run. So far managed to get to 46:05 which is best time this year.

Intense weight loss not happening - 91kg

I've run each night and tried to cut out calories but not having same effect as last time. Dropped 1.4kg since Monday run not alot of change day by day right now. I've started to use Strava and found a leaderboard segment on on there where I'm top, this relates back to my personal best for that course last year. No doubt now I've shown it to Dave he will go out and beat it: http://www.strava.com/segments/1254146

OMG!

Last night weighed 92.4kg, BMI of 26.4! Ok, so intervention time again. Current plan is to run all week, last night managed around 6-7miles. Not sure as my watch was not working. Currently trying to avoid chocolate, crisps etc during the day. Will try to stick to soup at lunch times. For running I've decides to use different routes so I cannot start to compete against myself constantly as this is too wearing, just need to run to get activity levels up again. See how we get on for the first week, then on holiday. Current plan is to lose 6kg in 2 months. This morning weighed 91.4kg, BMI of 26.1. According to NHS I need to be below 87.8kg.

New Year Plan

Second half of 2013 was not a great time for me due to various things at work and noise, neighbour issues at home. I now need to battle my way to fitness again. I have not yet weighed myself but I'm feeling fat. Last week started to run again, I managed 4 Middlewood way runs with my time improving each day. I started at 48:40something and this Monday achieved 44:50. A good improvement but well off my best time. I tried the KR run for the first time in a while last night and resulted in a very poor 53:40something, 10 minutes slower than PB. However, it was very muddy underfoot which slowed me down, as did the rain and darkness. My aim is to get that run done in lass than 48 minutes by end of January. Not drinking continues to be a challenge, last week I managed M,T,Th. W and Fr were heavy and then on S,Su had a couple with meals while out with Family. This week so far done M,T. I have committed to Edale Skyline buy in all honesty I doubt I will be able to do it. Currentl
